We are happy to announce that the 2009 Brookwood Band Camp will again be held at Western Carolina University. Located in the mountains in Cullowhee, North Carolina, WCU enjoys average summer highs in the high eighties. Our excellent experience there at last year’s camp made the decision to return an easy one.

Students will see some significant changes over last year’s camp, most notably, the housing. We will be housed in the Norton Residence Hall, located immediately next to our marching practice field… so no more long walks to the dorm. Norton is one of the newest residence halls on campus and is air-conditioned. Rooms are doubles and each double room has its own bath. A common living area is available to the residents on each wing.

Both a new, larger dining hall and a new recreation center have been completed since last year. Lastly, the band practice field has been improved, sanded and smoothed as well.   

We are very excited to be attending WCU again for this summer’s band camp. WCU has a very strong music program and has the facilities to match. Our students will benefit from using facilities designed with music and marching in mind.

WCU is located in Cullowhee, NC, five miles south of Sylva on Highway 107. WCU is approximately 110 miles from Brookwood High School and takes about two and one half hours drive time.
